Prayer Rugs

A one night showcase of a new body of work by Ruth Dennis

Walled City Gallery is pleased to present a one night showcase of Ruth Dennis’ most recent body of work, the Prayer Rug series.  Using oil on large canvases, she paints a stream-of-consciousness text that overlaps until the text is unintelligible and become elements of pattern and colour.  These paintings come to resemble rugs or mandalas, and capture the eyes of the viewer with their contemplative beauty.  This work is a seeking by the artist to create order out of chaos, beauty out of pain and serenity from confusion.  On display will also be Ruth’s four panel painting “Mea Culpa” an earlier work that is an precursor to her current body of work.
